The Solar System Bedding from The Land of Nod may be my top pick for a space themed bedroom, but this Blast Off bedding from Freckles runs a close second.
And speaking of rockets, this
rocket shaped lamp makes a great accent for your child's outer space bedroom.

I've searched the web for outer space themed bedding, and this
Solar System Bedding set from The Land of Nod is by far the cutest I've seen. They even have a throw pillow honoring the dwarf planet Pluto!

A space bedroom isn't complete without some celestial bodies. Here are some suggestions on how to incorporate planets and stars into your outer space room decor.
Hang planets from the ceiling with Solar System Mobiles:
Stick Planets on your Wall with Wallies®:
Stencil your walls with these Planet Stencils from Whimsical Walls
Make your ceiling glow
Use a glow-in-the-dark paint like Golden's Phosphorescent Medium
and this stencil from Yowler & Shepps to paint a field of stars and planets on the bedroom ceiling.

You can also use a stencil kit from Ursa Major to replicate the real night sky. If you don't want to paint, buy plastic glow-in-the-dark stars, like those in this Jar of Stars
shown, and attach them to your walls and ceiling.

Ever since his 1st grade classroom Planet Play , my son has been fascinated with planets, our solar system, the universe, and space travel. If he didn't already have an incredible Harry Potter style castle bedroom, we would be redecorating right now. Still, I had fun looking for inspiration for a space decorating theme.
Since I love paint, my first source of inspiration was space themed murals. For do-it-yourselfers, here's a room from Whimsical Walls Stencil Co. which uses planet and astronaut stencils from their Space Collection.

If you're really talented with a paintbrush, or have the funds to hire a muralist, take a look at this incredible bedroom from muralist Lynn Brehm. Lynn is located near San Diego. If that's too far for you, try the artist directory at stencilsearch.com to find an artist in your area.
